Floating Photovoltaic

1. Development stage of floating photovoltaic

  • Slow growth period:
From 2007 to 2013, the cumulative installed capacity was 4.8MW
  • Development acceleration period:
From 2014 to 2016, the cumulative installed capacity is nearly 100 MW
  • Leap-forward development period:
From 2017 to 2018, the annual installed capacity will be thousands of MW
  • Rapid development period:
From 2019 to 2024, the cumulative installed capacity demand is expected to grow at an average annual rate of 22%

2. Major markets for floating photovoltaics:

  • China:
68% of the world's cumulative installed capacity
  • Japan:
Accounting for 18% of the world's cumulative installed capacity
  • South Korea:
Accounting for 6% of the world's cumulative installed capacity
  • China:
3% of global cumulative installed capacity

3. Changes in construction costs:

  • 2014-2018:
USD 0.92-3.12/Wp

4. Commercial advantages of floating photovoltaics:

  • Does not occupy agricultural land
  • Underwater farming can increase income

5. Water photovoltaic construction methods:

  • Pile foundation fixed type:
it can only be installed within 5 meters of water depth, there is no geological house sea, and the area where the water level changes little
  • Floating type:
suitable for COSCO sea waters where the water depth is greater than 5 meters and there is no typhoon
