【AI ENTERTAIMNT】@twitter#Who is CEO

Elon Musk announced on social media that he will soon hire a new CEO for Twitter, while he himself will become the Executive Chairman and CTO, overseeing products, software, and systems. The new CEO is a woman who will officially assume the role in 6 weeks.

Musk did not disclose much information about the new CEO, but later, The Wall Street Journal published an article stating that insider sources revealed that Linda Yaccarino, the Advertising Chief of NBCUniversal, is in talks to become the new CEO of Twitter.

While many may not be familiar with Linda, BlockBeats looked up Linda Yaccarino's work experience. Linda is currently employed at NBCUniversal (NBCU), an American media company primarily focused on entertainment news, providing products and services related to entertainment, news, and information.

Linda is described as the Advertising Chief of NBCU and has been with the company for over a decade. During her tenure, she has advocated for finding better ways to measure advertising effectiveness. As the advertising sales chief of NBCU, she played a key role in the launch of the company's supported advertising for the Peacock streaming service. Prior to that, she worked in advertising sales at Turner for 19 years, showcasing her expertise in advertising and marketing.

It is well known that Musk, after taking over Twitter at the end of last year, initiated significant layoffs and cost-cutting measures due to poor financial performance. He also introduced the new policy of paid verification ("blue tick") on Twitter, which led many advertisers on Twitter to stop advertising. In a conference in March this year, Musk stated that Twitter's advertising revenue had declined by 50%, and within a few months after the acquisition, it was on the verge of bankruptcy.

Linda's presence seems to be aimed at addressing the existing issues with Twitter's advertising. As an executive with decades of experience in advertising and marketing, Linda brings a wealth of experience to address the deficiencies in advertising at Twitter. In addition, Linda holds three important roles:

  • Linda is the Chair of the Advertising Council, giving her an advantage in attracting advertising clients.
  • Linda is the Executive Chair of a working group at the World Economic Forum, allowing her to maintain connections with both businesspeople and politicians.
  • Linda is also the Global Chair of Ymu, a British talent management group, which provides her access to many celebrities.

These three roles as "chair" may enable Linda to address the current shortcomings of Twitter's advertising. She brings substantial resources and relationships, potentially compensating for Musk's lack of expertise in the advertising field at Twitter.

Linda has also been involved in numerous advertising and women-centric organizations, although they are not mentioned specifically. Interestingly, Linda was once a member of an organization under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and was mentioned by former U.S. President Trump on Twitter to participate in his Presidential Sports, Fitness, and Nutrition Committee.

The connection between Musk and Linda may have stemmed from an interview they had at the MMA Global POSSIBLE conference in April this year. They primarily discussed free speech and protecting advertisers on Twitter. After the interview, Linda published a post on LinkedIn sharing her thoughts on the conversation with Musk, expressing support for the core principles of free speech, accountability, and transparency on Twitter. As media and marketing professionals, she called for everyone to contribute their efforts to provide feedback and help improve the platform, stating the need to propose solutions to achieve "Twitter 2.0."

Linda urges industry insiders to be tolerant of Twitter's current shortcomings and actively participate in improving Twitter's governance. She has previously expressed her interest in improving Twitter. Currently, Linda has over 20,000 followers on Twitter, and her most recent retweet is related to NBCU.
